UBSC is the biggest university snowsports club in the country, run entirely by students, for students.
Our race and freestyle teams are some of the most successful in the country. We're proud to be a University of Bristol Performance Sport, giving us priority access to top notch training all year round. We have the highest level of support to develop all abilities, from complete beginners to recreational skiers and even through to international pros.
We run the LARGEST SINGLE-UNI SKI TRIP IN THE WORLD - 2000 Bristol Uni students descended upon Val Thorens in 2019. We bring world-class DJs and live acts, huge après and activities for every level of boarder/skier - it's unrivalled.
As the biggest club at Bristol, we have the best deals and maddest socials going! But don't be put off. We're an incredibly friendly bunch and love having new members join.

Here at UBSC we feel very strongly about climate change due to the huge impact it is having on the sport we love, as well as lives all over the world, and we are doing our best to reduce our footprint. Last year’s trip was fully carbon-offset and where possible we use UK suppliers for merchandise to reduce airmiles. To further our commitment to the planet, this year we have partnered up with Protect Our Winters. Our Snowball raffle in January raised £276 to support them and the great work they’re doing all over the world. We’re also working closely with Chilly’s to play our part in reducing the usage of plastic bottles.
We strive for equality in all areas including equality of opportunity: all of our trainings and competitions are heavily subsidised to ensure everyone can join in here at UBSC. Discrimination has no place at UBSC. We have also partnered with Snowcamp who engage inner-city young people through snowsports to provide life skills training, nationally recognised qualifications and work experience. Just this year, we have raised £860 for them.
Health, physical and mental, is very important to us. As a part of two communities that have been hit hard by mental health issues, Bristol uni and snowsports, we would like to do our part. The funds raised at our opening party raffle (£213) this year went towards the charity set up in memory of GB snowboarder Ellie Soutter who tragically took her own life over the summer. We have also raised £300 for the Teenage Cancer Trust through raffles, a pub quiz, and the sale of our 2018 trip tees.
